buying cured rock

hey guys....i think i will be purchasing cured rock from a friend of mine... so how does the process work once the rock is cured? do i just put it in the tank or do i still have to do alot of other stuff before putting it in the tank?

If it fully cured,you can put it right in the tank.Smell it...it should smell fresh.Cured or uncured can be added to new tanks that doesn't have fish,coral, and inverts...never add uncured rock to an establish tank,uncured needs to be cycled in a separate container.

If it has hair algae or other nuisance algae,I would scrub as much off as possible.(an clean old toothbrush works fine)

You can out it strait in if its already cured. When I picked some up a hour from home I filled a 5 gal bucket with enough water to cover the rock that way there wouldnt be any die off.

New system put it straight away in. check for a cycle over the next 10 days and if all is ok you can start a small bio load. good luck.

I'm a bigger fan of curing my own rock. It's less expensive and more fun!
