Canopy lift?????

Hey, I've tried searching but haven't found anything like this.

I have a 75gal tank with a full canopy that is fairly heavy. It houses two power compacts and ballasts, two metal halides, two fans, and is 50" x 19". Currently when opened there are two supports and swing down and "lock" into place in the front lip of the canopy. It works fine but takes two hands to accomplish.

I was thinking of replacing the swing down supports with those smaller sized hatch-back lifts used in cars (like small shocks). Has anyone done this?? Any pics?

Neat idea. I'd try it. Go get a couple short ones and screw some metal brackets on!! :bounce:
