I just got a new clam. Large...seems very healthy. This morning I noticed this white plastic looking hair coming out of one end of it. Does anyone know what it is? I'm concerned it might be its foot and something was picking at it last night. :(

    That is its foot.
But its probably just trying to find something solid for it to attach to.

Thanks. Maybe I should move a little sand out of its way? Or does it go through sand itself?!

I'd set it on a small rock. That way if you ever need to move the clam, you dont have to risk killing it.

Thanks. My question is...does it have to be down in the sand? If I put up onto one of the flattest rock I have, it won't be down in the sand. Thoughts?

My new clam I placed up on the rockwork between two rocks. For a couple hours I could see its foot grappling around. In the morning, it had changed its angle so that it was flat on one of the rocks. I am assuming it is in the process of attaching itself.
