Cleaning old Dead Rock?

So I'm upgrading to my 75g and I have a box of old "dead" rock in the garage that I want to clean up and use some of in the new tank.

My question is: Can I use regular well tap water (~250 TDS for me) to clean/scrub the rock with and have no issues? Or do you guys think this would be bad? It takes me almost a full day to make a 5 gal bucket of RO/DI water >_<

You can acid wash them. It will make them nice and white, and every bit of death left on or in the rock will be eaten away by the acid. Kind of a long process, with the acid dip, fresh water dip, and then a baking soda dip, but an idea if you want to go that route.

I'll be more simple than Fast. Yes, you can use tap water. :) Since you are just rinsing and scrubbing the rock, it won't hurt anything.
