Clowns Clowning Around!

I just bought two clowns that seem to be a mated pair, they are always together and they are kicking up a lot of sand. Every morning there is sand everywhere, on rocks, coral etc. Why are they kicking up all of this sand?

Put somethng smooth where they are fanning the sand, you might get a nice surprise and find some pretty orange eggs one morning.

it could be nesting but it could also be one clown establishing dominance over the other one

I doubt its nesting since they were added to the tank recently. They need time to get used to their environment and feel safe before any kind of nesting can happen. I think they are just being clowns, they will change as they get more adjusted. just my :twocents:

My clowns do this everyday. I decided to not get gobies because I didnt want sand everywhere and I ended up with clowns that do it anyways :) The only fan the sand up where they are sleeping at, like almost that they are digging a hole and sleeping in it.
