what is the most common plumbing size? i see schedule 40 and 80, i dont know anything about these terms except that its wall thickness(i believe). so what is the most common one that i will most likely buy out of lowes or something?

im asking because im trying to render a drawing on AutoCAD and i want to make sure i get the right parts library

most common that you wil see is sc 40 and 20 i just bought some from lowes and it was sc 40 for about 3.50 for 10ft

most common is 40. Best you can really use is 20 though because it provides more flow.

does the "sc" number refer to the tubing wall thickness, or the outer diameter?

walls thickness. Basically if you have a 1" pvc that is sched 40 its wall thickness it a little bit more. Sched 20 will have thinner walls so basically there is more room for the water to flow. you can google and find a chart on sched/flow

ah ok, well thats good to know. thanks cgoodman, i'll have to keep that in mind when i go shopping for pvc for my refugium in the next couple of days.
