Converting Alk to dKH

I am using test strips that measure alkalinity in ppm. The "ideal range" according to the chart is 180-300ppm, mine is consistently between 250 and 300, but how do I convert that to dKH?

Now i get it. It all makes sense now! Get rid of the test stips. They are not very accurate. Its like taking a 12guage and grouping at a 1000yards. You need to get some liquid test kits. Do not dose until you get them.

According to the SaltyZoo calculator, 300ppm is 16.8dKH. That is pretty high for a reef tank.

Typically 12dKH is considered the high limit for a reef tank.
What are your calcium and magnesium levels?

Buy a Hanna checker, always accurate, at least mine is. I shoot for 150-160 ppm in my tank. 300 is way too high.
