crushed coral what the hell?!

so i bought some of that crushed coral and i rinsed it the whole deal and when i dumped it in the whole tank just clouded up white.. is this the stuff that they add or what ever ?

mostly its just small fragments from shipping . you have tons of pieces constantly smashing together in a bag getting tossed everywhere grinding up small tiny pieces. just give it a bit it should settle down by tonight or tomorrow.

Ummm yeah? Any time you add crushed coral or sand, it will cloud up your tank. Don't worry about it. But you shouldn't have added the crushed coral anyways. It tends to lead to nitrate problems, and it is not good habitat for animals that traditionally live in sand (gobies, nassarius snails, etc).

Yeah, my 55 looked more like I was collecting different species of moss rather than coral.
