I have the culligan aqua cleer system for drinking water in my house and currently have to purchase my aquarium water from a proper filtration machine... but can i simply use my household filtered water instead of RO DI water to top up with and to mix new water for water changes?

Hello and welcome...if your water has very low "tds" readings...you can use it. If unsure, ask your water provider what their reading is. You want to shot for zero.

+1 Smitty

Welcome aboard.
If that filter system is what I'm thinking it is.Then I'm betting it would fine to use.But like Smitty said, check the TDS first.

Welcome to the site.

If it was me I would take a sample of the Culligan water to a local swimming pool supply store and have it tested. Most places will give you a print out of the test.

Test the water for TDS. TDS meters are about 20 to 30 bucks and you will need one because source water quality is a very important. Also, TDS will NOT detect chlorine levels but a cheap test kit will.
