curious about rock

Love my tanks!
Ok so I have been keeping my eye out for potential rocks to be able to use in my tank. I found this at the LFS that is a freshwater tank store. He sells this stuff to be used in freshwater. He tells me that it is high in minerals and appears to be porous. I wanted some opinions on this rock...

Looks like reef rock, but I don't know. I'd bet it'd be fine as you can make rocks out of concrete and put them in the tank. To be on the safe side though I'd put it in a container of water let it sit for a few days and test to make sure it doesn't raise the PH to deadly levels like concrete will when it hasn't been cured.

i'd say boil it and then bake it to be sure you'd remove all potential toxins.
I am also looking to ad freshwater rocks to my reef. Eventually they would become live.
The cost of real rocks is way too expensive!
