Cut BioCube29 while runnng

Has anyone cut the false floor out of chamber 1 in their BC29 while the tank was up and running? What tool did you use? I'd like to get a clean cut without jagged edges.

Also what are the best uses for the wasted space in lower chamber 1? A mini-refugium for copepods and such?

I just found out that the false bottom can be pushed out, no cutting needed.
