Dead fire shrimp

Well I woke up this morning, turned on my lights only to find my fire shrimp laying dead on the sand. It molted about 2 weeks ago and now it's dead. I have no idea why I have a hard time keeping shrimp. I've had this one for about 2 months. My params are all good, calcium is good and I make sure he was at least getting a few shimp pellets a week. :frustrat:

What are your water parameters. How often are you doing PWC`s? Are you positive it`s not the molt? They look like the real thing.

What is your Nitrates? Shrimp can be sensitive to them

Also, is the tank used or did you treat it with any meds?

SOme medications contain copper and it is highly toxic to inverts. If the tank is used, test the water. If it is not, are you running RO/DI water or tap water? Tap water can contain copper since most pipes in houses are copper.

Here are my params

amm - 0
rites - 0
rates - 5 or less, but not quite 0
calc - 450
sal - 1.024
I do 4g water changes weekly.

I bought the tank brand new and never used any meds in it.

Sorry to hear about your shrimp :(
I have no problem keeping shrimp, but I can't keep a goby to save my life. Go figure :) Good luck next time.
