Deep Scratch Repair

I couldn't seem to find any reference on the site, but would a windshield repair kit be a safe and effective method to repair a deep scratch in a glass aquarium (it's glass not acrylic)? I know what to use on minor scratches.

You could polish it out, but it weakens the glass, especially if its really deep. Thats the only way in know of personally, there are probably millions out there. Im guessing most included emptying the tank though

This would be on an empty tank. It's a 37g corner hex I'm picking up to move up from my 12g JBJ.
