Deep Six Hydrometer

it is true, Alexander has it right on. Curing the needle makes all the difference. Maybe that is why they don't seem to work for people?

fill the hydrometer full and let it sit for 24 hours full of salt water and then dump it out and rinse it with RO water and you are "seasoned"

anyone know anything about the refractometer Dr. Foster has available for $41.95? I was thinking of using my $25 credit towards one.
 
The refractometer is definitely the way to go for an accurate test. with a small system you need the most accurate test every time your can get as the margin of error is more critical in a small system. good luck. Ive seen some refractometers on sale for 39.85 recently, so shop around you will find one in the 40's.
