dehumidifier

I have a dehumdifier in the house. Could the water that is captured by this be used to make my saltwater for water changes. If so, would I need to do anything besides get the right amount of saltwater mix (specific gravity) ?

I would suggest using RO/DI water instead

The dehumidifier doesn't actually purify the water... So I wouldn't risk it.

It also runs the water across metal plates which is a bad thing.

Those plates Ryan mentioned are copper on a lot of dehumidifiers depending on the brand and the age of the unit.
I wouldnt risk it for the price of a RO/DI unit,or a jug of distilled water.
