Reefing newb
Just wanted to post this here for other newbies to the forums like me.
Thanks for all the info and posts, they have been super helpful and saved my tank...

So last sunday i was checking my salinity when it appeared a bit low
I figured no problem next time i need to add water i will add saltwater
The next day I was surfing the Helpfull articles here on the forum and I found this article
https://www.livingreefs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=408

I ran out to my local pet store (my meter was over a year and a half old)
Sure enough i went home and tested my water and it right where it needed to be. (it was not low like the old one reported)

So to quote that article
"1) Replace your salinity meter at least twice per year. In the future, I will always use two. Use one for regular testing and one for confirmation testing only. After 6 months, discard the everyday one , use the backup for everyday, and buy a new backup. This way you always have a new backup
available."

In addition i went ahead and ordered one of these i figure its worth it (as posted in a previous thread)
