DJ Power Strips

Check these out [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0036DEC48"]http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0036DEC48 [/ame] They are pretty cheap and are working great for me. And to answer you queation some of them are but some arent it all depends on the power strip.

Really? Oh! They are different brand than mine. I was just about to say Tripp Lite is a big name and I serious doubt that they would have that kind of problem. This is the one I have: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-PS4816-16-Outlet-15-Foot/dp/B000051174/ref=acc_glance_hi_ai_ps_t_1]Amazon.com: Tripp Lite PS4816 16-Outlet Power Strip (15-Amp, 15-Foot Cord): Electronics[/ame]

They have the shorter/less port one as well.

Just to clarify, a 15 amp breaker isnt a surge supressor.

All your outlets are hooked up to 15 or 20 amp breakers. Yet you should still have a surge supressor on expensive equipment.

Power surges can jump up to thousands of volts and last shorter than one cycle of electricity. Since it is volts surging and not amps, breakers wont do anything until the piece of equipment is damaged and starts drawing more amps than the breaker rating.

Surge supressors basically filter out huge spikes like that.

As for the DJ power strips, I do not know if they are surge supressors or not since I do not use them.

Here's a good follow up question maybe someone could answer then - what would be a good way to surge protect a DJ power amp? I don't think it'd be a good idea to plug one into a surge protector power strip; then all the power input of the DJ strip would be going through just ONE outlet in the other strip, possibly overloading it...?

The stripes are usually rated 15 A in total. So, one way or the other, it's still 15 A. I don't see how you could overloading it.

Hmmmm, I guess that makes sense. I'd much rather have some sort of "in-line" surge protector to save space - does such a thing exist?

They have surge protectors that you can have installed at the breaker box. My dad had one installed after he lost $20,000 worth of electronics during a lightning storm.
