Do conches bury themselves?

Sir Alex

Dragon the eel (below)
I just got a conch a couple of days ago. When I came out yesterday it was buried, and I got it out. This morning when I came out it was buried again. They're supposed to this right?

Yes, they spend much of thier time buried in the sand. They pop out every once in a while to clean the top of the sand, but mine is buried most of the time. It took my wife over a month to find it in the tank, she had no clue I added one!

Yup they are like little snow plows, except in sand. They bury themselves, and move around on the bottom of the tank, eating crap, and stirring your sand.

I have a queen conch that I never know if its alive or dead. I didn't see it for six months or so, then came out for a week or two and is now currently MIA. Its like "where's Waldo" in my tank.
