Do mushrooms poop?

I have some purple mushrooms that I got about 2 months ago. They are doing well and have sprouted a few baby shrooms as of late.

Twice now, I've been watching the tank and, out of the corner of my eye, I see something that looks like it's coming from the mushrooms. By the time I focus on it, it's already floated to the water surface. It looks clear like a large air bubble or a glob of slime. Is this poop?

You've just witnessed mushroom defecation! Mushrooms filter food and also expell waste through their mouths. I bet your hungry now, yummy. :bounce:

I've always assumed the clear bubbly stuff is waste, but I have watched it come from the underside of the mushrooms, not the mouth.

Interestingly, it seems all my mushrooms do this at about the same time.

It could be small air bubbles that are getting caught on the underside of the mushroom.

All corals have a simple digestive system, they eat and poop out of the same opening.
