Down sizing Questions

Hello i currently have a 55 gal tank with live rock, and few corals. I am down sizing to a 30 gallon, and was told by my local reef supplier that i wouldnt need a protien skimmer, is this true? And i am going to add led lighting but cannot seem to get s straight answer as to what led systems would be needed to support 30 gallons. Can some lend me some advice

What are the dimensions of the 30 gallon tank. I'd take a look at the AquaIlluminatio Sol Nano fixtures, you'd probably only need one of them (depending on tank dimensions)

Thank you for the info, it Half Moon 30: 26" x 14" x28".
Do you know about the skimmer? Would i need one?

Yea, you would need a skimmer. Its a good thing to run. Unless you plan on doing water changes once a week, and how heavy your bio load, and how many corals you plan on keeping. Use the skimmer your using on your 55 gallon tank, that'll do ya just fine.

On smaller tanks, you don't need a skimmer, as you can get away with doing more frequent water changes. But as Reef Nutz said, if you don't want to do that, keep the skimmer.
