Got one of those dual reactors from bulkreefsupply.com and was wondering how many GPH was an effective rate to pass through the reactor.
dual carbon/GFO reactor how many gph?

You need to pass enough that the GFO surface is just slightly tumbling. I'm using the maxijet 1200 pump they recommend and it's perfect.

I was thinking about tapping the return line from my Mag drive 7 pump, would this work?

Ya, just have a small shut off valve so you can adjust flow. If the gfo tumbles too much it will break down. If it doesn't tumble at all it will solidify. So i've heard.

Cool, yeah it came with a ball valve so that will be perfect.

+1 dennis.....I would use a separate pump on the reactor just for ease of maintenance and less clutter in the sump

I just finished glueing the plumbing, I actually fixed some things I didn't like about the old plumbing, it's not cluttered in the sump though.
