Egg crate

I am going to add eggcrate to the top of my tank to prevent jumpers from getting out. I read, in an earlier thread, that eggcrate will diffuse some of the light. Right now I have a FOWLR with 1 crocea clam. I do plan to add SPS and LPS in the near future. Will the eggcrate diffuse the light to a point that I would need to be concerned? Would it matter if I use black or white eggcrate?:bowdown:

as long as you have good lights it wont effect the light to the tank to bad.

the openings in the crate are big enough to not affect the light too much

It won't make a noticeable difference. And I don't think black or white matters. It's probably just personal preference.

My light fixture has 3x 250W DE HQI, 4x 96W compact fluorescent. I believe it is good lighting cuz when I did have coral they were healthy looking.

With that lighting I think your good. I would be nice if the crate stuff came in clear, though.

I bought white eggcrete and I would advise against it. It reallly really reflects off the white and it makes the whole room "glow". I just plan on spray painting mine.

just dont buy the mirrored one the crap flakes off into the tank after awhile the salt eats the paint they use on it

Why don't they manufacture a product for this. Makes no sense!
