Electrical: Cutting down LED's

I picked up a string of blue LED's at Sams and I want to cut them down. I don't NEED 200 moonlights! How can I cut them down and NOT burn down my house in the process?

The questionn I have is how are they wired? Parallel or series or a combination of both?

It matters because I am not sure what the rating on the LEDs are.

I would remove all the bulbs you want to first b4 cutting. i did that to a light set and the rest got real bright and burned out.
