Evaporation

I am evaporating about 4 or 5 gallons a day out of my 180g tank. Does that seem a little high?

Not really, I lose 1-2 gallons a day in my 75.

5 gallons is almost exactly what I lose to evap in my 180 daily.

I loose about a gallon on my 46g tank. Thats with the ac going and fans going. I think your about right for a 180g

So are water changes going to be needed as often since im going threw so much water / week?

Yes, the evaoration actually concentrates you pollutants. Remember to top of with fresh water and not salt.

+1 everyone.... your water may evaporate, but it still leaves behind the nitrates. And like Ryan so eloquently put it, without top offs, the nitrates become more concentrated...not to mention the salt.
