false vs true percula

I failed Kobayashi Maru
I am confused. I thought my clowns were false, based on information that true perculas have thicker black striped areas. Mine have thin. So I assumed they were tank bred...or are false perculas also in the wild? Maybe I read some info wrong.

When I asked my LFS (some guy I never met before), he said their clowns are not tank bred.

Clowns are deffinetly tank bred. I think true is just more black on it. I don't think it has anything to do with being wild caught or bred, but I could be wrong.

mine were considered ORA true percula, but my guess is that since it is ORA that they were tank raised and breed. I'm not even sure to be honest.

They are 2 different species. Daugherty is correct. A true perc (Amphiprion percula) has 10 dorsal spines and a false perc (Amphiprion ocellaris) has 11 dorsal spines.

I paid around $58 for the pair. I think 1 was $36. I can't complain about the price since I love this LFS and don't mind supporting them.
