I have two different kinds of food and I was wondering if it would be fine to switch back and forth between dry flakes and frozen mysis shrimp? Variety for the fish.:sfish:

Variety is good. But flakes are not :(. Flake and pellet foods contain preservatives that can lead to high nitrates and phosphates in your tank. For saltwater fish, I recommend feeding only frozen foods. There are a variety of frozen foods out there. You should rotate between the different types. Frozen mysis shrimp (which you have) is some of the best frozen food. You can also feed frozen foods such as Emerald Entree, Marine Cuisine, bloodworms, tubifex worms, enriched brine shrimp, krill, cyclopeeze, etc. Most of these are available at Petco and Petsmart, and are easy to find. If you have herbivorous fish, dried seaweed sheets are also important.

It's okay to use the flakes, but if you start to have an algae problem or high nitrates and phosphates, the flakes are a likely source of the problem.
