Film on water

Stogey

Rookie
I have a film on the top of my water. I'm assuming my protein skimmer isn't doing its job very well anymore. The film has broken up a bit....
Just wondering if anyone can tell me what's up.

That is pretty normal if you dont have enough flow on the surface. I would point one of your powerheads up there and make sure you have a good ripple. The other thing you can do is place a paper towel under the surface and collect the stuff making up the film.

As soon as I put my new power head in there is when I got the film.
I'll get some waves goin on the top and see of that takes care of it though.
Thanks

Is there any specific way I should have my new power head sitting. I have the stock power head at the very back of the tank. The tank is a bio cube. So all the flow is
coming from the back.

You should have one powerhead pointing at the surface of the water and another one aimed elsewhere. The water movement in the stock biocubes isnt enough to keep a healthy reef.
