Finger Coral not opening

Does any body know why a finger coral would suddenly not open and just stay in a slumped and closed state. It was opened last week did a water change ten gallons (40 gallon tank) still had ammo in tank on Tuesday. Did five gallons on Thursday. To much to fast maybe?

Well, for starters you shouldnt have anything in your tank if you have ammonia, but it sounds like you have an established tank and you are getting a false reading.

However, leathers often shed a layer of skin and look pretty bad for a couple of weeks, but then they perk up again

Thanks. Is sort of established. Had to get a larger tank because of a lighting issue. Had to cycle a tank with combination water from old tank and water from lfs and new mix. Plus new live rock. Only two casualties so far. Again thanks
