first attempt at uploading a picture

could anyone help me identify these red things, the are growing in clumps.

I do not have great eyes but they look like mushrooms to me, and a gold mine of them at that. Makes that rock worth a lot more than you paid for it.
 
they are not flat, kind of shaped like a partially deflated bubble. they are fairly small each one about the size of shelled sunflower seed.
 
Take the rock and if it holds its shape,poke it with a needle.If it deflates than it's red bubble algae or another type of red algae.At least that what it looks to my eyes.

If that's the case scrub it off out of the main tank.Good idea to remove the green bubble algae too.Avoid popping the bubbles on both,if possible.
