Hmmm interesting read. Still not conclusive that the magnets did it, though. I've never left my MagFloat in my tank because of the potential for it to rust. Not because rust would hurt the corals, but because it could ruin the MagFloat.

Just finished reading that thread. To me, it could be almost anything. But if the magnets are the ones that are nickle and copper coated, that could have been a contributing factor.

Now I'm worried about my powerheads, the koralias use magnets under their suction cups

I keep both my Mag Float and Magnivore on the tank.Both are over 2 years old with no issuses.
The magnets on the Koralias are encased in a rubber skirt.So there really should be no issues with those rusting and leaching back into the tank.
