Had a profusion of brown diatoms in a tank. Added a fuge with chaeto (to bring nitrates down) and also added some Margarita snails --they chow on brown diatoms!
excellent, however margarita snails are actually a deeper (and therefore colder) water snail which doesn't do that well in standard reef tank temperatures.
True, margarita snails are commonly collected off the coast of California and the Pacific Northwest, and usually end up slowly boiling to death of a few weeks in reef tanks. They may work, just don't expect them to last long.
