Giant Dark Brown Spot on Scopas Tang Only at night??

I just got a scopas tang, he was a trade in at the local fish store and they quarantined him for a few weeks to. Overall he seems very healthy, but I was wondering cause when I look in the tank at night he seems to have giant dark brown looking spot (larger than a quarter) on both sides of his body, I even checked it out with a flashlight, however during the day, it is gone. What's up with this??

I don't have tangs so I can't say for sure, but some fish attempt to camouflage themselves at night, probably to guard against predators..maybe that's it....Does it look like a sore? or just a different color?

I had a chocolate tang who would do that in the beginning.He may stop once he has adapted to his new home.I also agree with PRC...

I had a scopus tang there did the exact same thing every night when the lights went out.

My yellow tang looks like that in the dark. It's normal!

Normal like everyone says.My purple tang looks pale when the lights have been out for awhile.

Perfectly normal. My yellow tang has a big white spot at night and the scopas has the same spot.
