I've asked permission from bifferwine to share this with you...

It's a Comparison Shopping tool for Saltwater aquarists! It makes it really easy to find the lowest price for livestock and equipment with one click!

Select the product you are looking for, hit compare prices button - and the system will scan over 150 online stores and find the lowest price!

It's still new so you may find a few glitches here and there... we are working on it all the time to make it better and have it cover more and more products. I'll be happy to hear your thoughts on it here in this thread!

If the link above didn't work for you, pls try this one below http://www.thereeftank.com/products.html

Thanks to all for the positive feedback!

We've put in just over 1,000 items... we hope to get to 4,000 in the next few months.

We also plan on implementing price alerts (i.e. email me if this product goes on sale for less than x), and much more.

If you come up with things you think we should change, let me know.

Also, it would be cool to hear from you what are the next things we should add... more skimmers? CO2 reactors? Controllers? More powerheads?... anything else?

add more of everything. If you want a site that compares prices then you want to attempt to meet every need of the consumer. The reason sites like this fail are because a potention user uses them once and can't find what they want to compare and then the result is them not thinking about the site the next time.

    Cool!
As far as suggestions, I like that feature that search engines have now were they show a list of completed search items as you're actually typing in the search box. Sometimes that helps make sure you get the right spelling, as well as being quicker/easier.

I totally agree with you Altohombre. Ideally we will want our Comparison Shopping service to include the super-set of the products sold by all Reef-related-eStores... it will take us a good few months but that's our goal.

Yep - that would be really helpful! We'll put it on our list - Thanks!

Hmm... I just went and randomly checked 4 MH Bulb items (below) and found offers from multiple stores on each... If you run across one with only eBay offers again - pls send me the link.

It'd also be good if it showed the price of the item for each of the sites.
    Just a thought.

Never mind,I just noticed the prices are there:D

Foster & Smith just listed this as cheaper than anything from the above website:

Coralife Aqualight Advanced Tank-Mount 1x150W HQI

Just remember, cheapest isn't always best. Service counts for a lot.

Thanks for reporting this. We list products from Foster & Smith and we'll work with them to check why this product didn't show up.

I agree with you - Stores' reviews should complete the picture on that regard.

I could not agree more... I had several issues with lighting on my new tank. When considering where to but a new light from I found great deal on the Internet but eventually decided my LFS was the best place to go. The service I get from them is worth a little more. They even met the online price so all I was out was the tax. Well worth it!
