Reefing newb
Hi all,

Just a note to introduce myself. I've been a freshwater hobbyist for about 15 years now, and I finally decided to take the plunge and start my first marine aquarium. Last month, I set up a 56 gallon column tank.

I've been cycling the tank with live rock and live sand for about 3 weeks now. Ammonia is down to 0, nitrites are high off the charts and nitrates are around 60ppm. There's a big diatom bloom covering most of my rock and sand.

I'm patiently waiting for the nitrites to drop, and I'll add a small clean-up crew then. Planning on eventually stocking a peaceful community reef, probably starting with blue-green chromis. Looking forward to reading lots of threads on these forums while I'm waiting for the cycle to complete.

Mike
