Grounding Probe

I was wondering what the thoughts were about a grounding probe for the tank. There are a lot of differing opinions on them, 1/2 of the people say yes they are necessary and the other 1/2 say no. I have one but I don't know if I should use it for my upcoming set up. Any opinions would be helpful.
Thanx

The problem with a grounding probe is that it creates a current through your tank instead of just having stray voltage. I think i personally would be more damaging, but many people have a stray voltage problem which is killing their animals, but adding the grounding probe will stop the death.

The grounding probe offers the system a ground should you ever experience a failed piece of equipment that puts voltage into your system.

Water is an excellent conductor of electricity, and offering a ground probe in the system gives that current a place to ground without hurting anything in it.

Do they work..........................ab so fucking lutely they do.

It is better to spend the 20-30 bucks on one, than to find out after you have lost your coral and inverts.
