still having a hair algae problem. it has stopped spreading but still not receding. thinking about trying the blackout method, it worked on my cyano bloom when the tank was forst set up. anybody else have experience with this method or suggest another.

What are you water parameters? and how long have you been having this problem? Something most people fail to realize is that our rocks soak up crap like nitrates and phosphates so, even after they've gotten their nitrates and phosphates down to zero there are still traces of it in the rocks. The algae will continue to grow because it's using the nutrients the rock soaked up to grow. And until all of that is depleted it'll still be in your tank.

I had a large hair algae bloom early on with my tank, but after adding turbo snails it hasn't come back. If you don't have any turbos, I'd recommend picking up some (I have about 1 for every 10g). But also a good idea to also find the root cause of the algae problem to begin with!
