Hairy Pincushion vs Short-Spined Pincushion

I've seen both of these urchins listed on LA's website, and they look similar (the purple versions). Is one more preferable to the other?

Extremely!!!!! You ever tried to dig an unchin spine outta your hand? Is ain't no fun cause they just go deeper.:grumble:

I have purple pincushions and they don't mess with the corals - don't know about the short spines- might b worth researching .

I have a purple pincushion, and I really enjoy him! He does great at nomming up unwanted algae, and my son loves to pet him when he's close to the surface. Only downside? He regularly runs off with coral frags that aren't glued down. Just sticks them to his head like a hat and makes off with them. If I catch him at it, I can retrieve and replace the frag, but he's dropped a couple down in the rock work, never to be seen again.....

Thanks everyone! I think I just might have to pick up a hairy pincushion if there is one in the diver's den next time I order fish :)
