Halide lamp lighting

Where is the best place to put my halide light, so, when it heats up it doesn't hurt anything? Let me know, thanks.

Usually 8 to 10 inches above is a good height. You can lower it or heighten it depending on how things look, or the temps your tank starts reaching.

I have mine about 10" above the water in my 125. Then again, I don't want any splashback onto the bulbs. :D
