I run Vista 64 Ultimate at home. I love it and don't have any issues. It did require that I upgrade my RAM for video games to work. Otherwise, no issues this far.

It's not the ramm. My rig at work has 4gb of ramm. If that ain't enough--there isn't enough on the planet. I use it to run 2 fairly complicated software programs and basic word processing for writing contracts and proposals. I am a hunt-n-peck typer, but I manage about 60 words a minute. It's AMAZING to me that I can actually type faster than the letters will appear on my screen at work. Sometimes I have to sit and wait about 3 minutes for a full paragraph of typed text to appear on my screen.

And it's all the stupid farking pop-ups:

Are you sure you want to open this window?
You initiated a download, are you sure you want to continue?
An executable file was initiated. Are you sure you want to continue running this setup program?

    Are you sure?
    Are you sure?
    Are you sure?

I clicked the GAWD DAMNED button!! DIDN'T I?!?!?!?!?

Drives me farking NUTS!!! As I said before--it was designed to protect inexperienced users from their own stupidity. Pandering to the lowest common denominator.

I heard about Windoze 7. It's probably even worse than Vista. Every new version they come out with is worse than the last. I liked 95. There was nothing wrong with it. I got used to 98II pretty easily, but it was pretty stupid at first. XP drove me nuts for about 2 weeks. Skipped ME and 2000 altogether--thankfully. But Vista is just IGNORANT. Hate it!!

Some kid at work just about got his teeth knocked out last week. I have a bad back, and we were moving a new drafting table into my office. This kid is like 22yrs or 24yrs old. He was fumbling around like a puppy and really had no clue how to take one desk OUT of my office and then bring the new one INTO my office. I told him to turn the old desk sideways and flip it up on the right side--it would go out the door easier. I could tell it was too wide to fit through the door, but he wanted to get out the tape measure. Any fool could see the desk was about 8" too wide to fit through the door.

I said, "Just turn it sideways and flip it up on the right side. Pick the damn thing up and get it outta here."

He looks at me and asks, "Are you sure?"

:frustrat: I could have knocked his teeth so far down his throat--he'd have been shitting them out after lunch.

A whole generation of kids can't think for themselves. Thanks Bill Gates-- you're a farking moron.

RC ... Tell us how you really feel:mrgreen:

I can totally relate. My wife's laptop has 2 Gb of RAM, dual core 1.7 CPU, yet still runs much slower than my laptop running Linux with 1 Gb RAM and a 1.67 dual core CPU. And I only have to restart my system after security patches when it affects the kernel, not just some application.

Vista sucks ... plain and simple. Just my opinion, take it for what it's worth (but I do work in the Info Tech Industry).

Lol. I forgot about the "are you sure" stuff. My husband turned that off. I will have to ask him where that setting was.

My husband works in IT. Most people hate Vista, some love it, more hate it...

RC, you need to locate the movie "Idiocracy" - pretty funny movie about people evolving over time, and what happens when only the stupid people breed. ;)

To turn off the user controls that make you confirm everything you go to the control panel, click user accounts and family safety, then click user accounts, and then the very last option is to turn user account control on or off...turn them off and you won't be bothered anymore
