You know if I am not mistaken, I think I heard somewhere that electricity travels better through saltwater than fresh. I believe it has something to do with the minerals that are in saltwater. But don't quote me on this...its just something I had rolling around in the back of my brain.

It's true, water by itself is not a very good conductor. It's the dissolved solids in the water that make it a conductor. Saltwater has a ton more dissolved solids than freshwater.

Indeed salt water works nice to deliver a current of electricity. There are some things we did in college for engineering with salt water cells and made them in to a solar charge station it was not all that practical because we failed to buff the consumption rate to self charge rate. In the end it was no more than a vary large one use AA battery.
