Hey, new to site

Reefing newb
I am 38, and have been reefing for 7 years. Actually much longer, but built my 120G 7 years ago and recently constructred the 151G waterfall reef that I have connected to my main reef's sump. It has been crazy lately with better equiptment running than before. I am struggling a bit in the area of dkh, a bit on the high side. I use RO-DI water and here are a few shots of my tanks. I also would like to include some specs. I have the 120 reef connected to a reservoir where I skim, U/V Sterilize, Canister Filter, and Calcium Ractor functioning - that is connected to my main sump. I use 13,000K Metal Halide 250W (2) , and (2) 96W Power Compact Dual Actincs. On my waterfall I have a 14K Coralife 150W HQI, and believe it or not , it seems like enough light to go reef fish and a few corals. Trying to keep angels, things I can't in the main reef. The tanks are 27 and a half inches square, 3 of them running via sump and returning, all PVC. pleasure to meet you.

I just started filling the 151G, didn't think RO-DI would take so long - 50GPD. I am hoping that the 150HQI light at 14K will be enough. I don't have much room to hang anymore lights. But anyway - thought I would find a place where I could help beginners , and learn from people who have been in the hobby longer than I. If theres one thing I have learned - there is no end to the journey of education

So what is a good thing to do - start a profile. Can all others see my equiptment so when they want to they can check out my reef? Kind of new to the computer stuff

Fear not the girlfriend who finds reef supplies and 300+ Gallons of Reef in the basement - for the couch has it's own reason for existing!

I always wanted a bow front. I was surprized that they are real glass. Do they scratch?

Great photos! Thanks for sharing. For sure start a thread in Tank Showcase. We are glad you found the site!

The bowfront tanks scratch just as easily as any other glass tank -- so not very easily. They can be a little bit more difficult to keep clean because of the curvature of the glass, but you can still do it with a magnet cleaner.

:DThanks I am a girl moderator, I was thinking of getting a cool bow front, looks like a hlf mon. The idea came to me because thery are perfect half circles I saw , maybe 2 ft wide by 3 tall. If you put them back to back, it would be a perfect circle. I may have to do that, but "having" to do that means $ for drilling glass, hooking to main system like always, then it's sitting here listening to my girlfriend . All I here is me me me me me em- m mm me mme ... lol. NAGGIN ME CUZ IM A REEFER!!! lol. I am a 37 year old teak decker thats temporarily disabled. On enough morphine to sedate an elephant, so this tank is therapy to me:) MY GOD _ Please no power outage this week.....OUCH! :sfish:

I just started a new tank recently that was one of those. There isn't anything in it yet but sponges and gorgonians. It will be a seahorse tank eventually. When I get the time to actually add fish to it. ;) (One of my other tanks, the 90 gallon, is in the background).

This is how I aquascaped it.

:bowdown:That is awesome! Did you do all that rockwork binding them together? More patience than I ! I really like that system. How is your Sailfin doing? Mine is awesome. I got her 2 years ago as a baby and she has zero fear. Eats the food out of my hand before I can even get it on the magnet. That tank of yours is cool. I WANT ONE BAD , lol

Thanks! I did the rock work by building a PVC frame, then using zip ties to attach the rocks to the frame. I've had my sailfin for a couple years now. He's fine, he is small and slow growing.
