The fizzing indicates that it is calcium based (calcium carbonate) aragonite rock. There might be information on the articles section of Living Reefs on using vinegar to test the rock. Someone else can probably give a better explanation (I'm getting tired and have to be up at 3:00 for off-hours work).
Edit: Found a post on Texas holey rock. It basically states that it is a calcium rock. They also recommend using vinegar to test the rock. This is someone's post, so I would continue to research it as anyone can post to the web ... even people like me. :mrgreen:
