High nitrates?

My 30 gallon saltwater aquarium has extremely high nitrates! any help on how to get them back to manageable conditions? P.S. I only use distilled water for top offs and such

Water changes. Just keep doing maybe 30% every few days until you can get them down.

Slow down on feeding your fish too. Feed them small amount once everyother day. Do you clean off your lr and sand bed? What are you using for filtration?

+1....up the water changes...downsize the feedings and maybe redirect some flow so there isnt any "dead spots" for food and crap to settle and rot.
