Hitchhikers

What are the typical species of snails that hitchhike? I have quite a few snails that came home on my live rock with me. There are lots of tiny ones and ones that almost look like bugs.

I havent seen many snails hitch hike, but some people get some cool critters with the rock, i got a mantis shrimp once, he was fun to catch hahah.
But the bug like things you are talking about sound like pods to me! Good guys!

Hmm, they kind of look like chitons except more snailish. Almost like a snail with a flat shell. They have antennas and a flat shell but are faster than a snail.

Could be a stomatella snail... google it! :)

sounds like stomatella snail to me also they can motor.. the ones that you say look like bugs sound like copepods to me also

I agree also...definitely sounds like a stomatella snail. Those things can move fast too. :)

Waddi, I have TONS of snails on my live rock. I got 2 big ones 'cus I asked the lfs if the piece of rock I picked out came with the snails. He said... sure... lol!
