If I make a HOB fuge with Cheato in the back, will I need to clean the tubes out constantly still? I am thinking of using a HOB filter and modifying it....I have a HOB skimmer, but am looking for that extra nitrate removal!

    Nope, you shouldn't have to.

I don't think you'll need to clean it constantly. But what tubes are you talking about?

The ones that you have to scrub when you use them as a filter, you know the ones that suck the water into the filter....

You'll only have to clean when its dirty enough to clean. It could be very seldom or weekly depending on how much algae and gunk gets stuck in there. I don't think it will be all that bad though. My friend Mike uses a HOB filter turned into a fuge and rarely has to clean the intake tube.

You will need to clean the tubes but not very often. It should not be a big deal.

Ok Thanks guys! I was worried if I did that I would have to scrub them like I did when I was using them for my filter....
