How do you move a tank (to another house)?

put the water into 2 rubbermaid trash cans...put the rock in it.

Pick up trash cans put them in car.
Remove sand
Put empty tank in car.
start car
put it in D
go to new house.
Fill back up.

don't forget the fish.

It seems a lot more daunting then it really is. Just don't do what I did and leave all the sand in the bottom of a tank your trying to move. 40 pounds of wet sand was more like 100 lbs

Yes, either just toss the sand or rinse it very well before you add everything back in. The sand will be full of junk and moving will stir it up, which can cause a very serious cycle.

Ok, questions. If your really careful can you leave the sand in? If not won't rinsing the sand remove all the good bactiera? Do you have to rinse the sand in the existing salt water or do you have to make new? How about stressing out all the life, will they survive ok?

You will still have plenty of bacteria and good stuff on the rocks.

And i would put all the sand in a bucket, put a hoze in there and let the water flow. Stir the sand until the water flowing off the bucket is clear.

You are going to lose quite a bit of micro fauna, but its better than losing everything if you cause a cycle in your tank.
