how often should i do water changes

i have been doing a 4gallon change in my tank every 2 weeks(in my 29 gallon)
since ive started using ro water from my fish store all my algae has died and my cyona is dissapearing little by little
do u guys think every 2 weeks is good enough? and can i wait longer

I have a 29 gal. I run nothing but a skimmer and powerheads so I do weekly water changes. I think if I pushed it any more then that I wouldnt have had such a successful go of it

ya all i have is a skimmer, live rock, and a refug with macro.

I do a 5 gallon change every week. Helps keep the water more stable instead of larger swings. I also have a 29 gallon.

I usually do 10% (about 15 gallons ) on my 180 weekly. Recently my tests have all been coming back really well, and its been 10% bi-weekly for me. I have yet to see any issues with that schedule change, but my tank has also just passed the one year mark

I do a 50% once a month on my 29G. I raise the cal in my make up water as high as it will go without precipitation and sometimes I let it precipitate just a little. My tank has never been the worse for it. The cal stays at good levels for a month so I don't have to dose except some occasional alk.

If you have a large tank, a 50% change may be a lot of work
