How to acclimate corals

I usually just float the bag to acclimate temp, do a 10 minute dip in Lugols and then drop in the tank.

Nope...I've been lucky. But I only buy corals from two lfs's that dip their corals anyway. Or other reefers that I personally know and trust.

We float for about 10-15 min, then open bag and add 1/2 cup of water at a time every 5 min or so until the water doubles then we put the coral in. Same method with the fish and NEVER let the water from an LFS to go in our tank. Haven't ever dipped them & been lucky. Thinking about getting a dip though.

I think it's a good idea to dip no matter where the corals come from. It's a lot easier than dealing with a pest later on down the road. :)

I float mine for about an hour and then drip for between 30-90 minutes. They all seem to be doing well.

I dip in CoralRx for about 10-20m and then add them to the tank.

I float mine for at least a half hour. Then dip in Lugols ar Seachem Reef Dip. Always, Always, Always dip your corals, no matter where you get them from. No friend, or trusted LFS would intentionally give you red bugs, flat worms, or nudis. Sometimes things are not found until after the fact, and then a friend needs to make phone calls. Seen it happen way too many times.

It's a pest that can come on SPS corals. They look like little red fleas.
