HUGE Hammer Coral

Just thought I would share.....

I stopped by my LFS today to discover they have (2) HUGE hammer corals in their DT.

The lighter one is about 3 1/2 feet x 3 1/2 feet square, the darker one is about 2 feet x 2 feet.

The "small" frag in front of them is actually two large heads of hammer.

They are one solid piece, creating a great under-cave which fish swim through.

Price tag : $600.00 for the big one. $400.00 for the smaller.

Those are both freaking awesome! You could buy one frag the crap out of it and make money and still have a huge hammer!

they both look like wall hammers, in which case, fragging them becomes monumentally difficult. I can't wait til mine looks like that, in about 3 years!

THAts cheap My LFS would charge 1,200 dollars for that.THey have a 2 foot long crocea clam in their DT. but not for sale

Those hammers have got to be wild caught, doncha think? How long would it take to frag a small piece and grow it that big? 10 years?

You'd be surprised at just how quick a hammer coral can grow given the right conditions along with regular spot feeding.
