Ideal location for a circulation pump?

I just got a circulation pump (1250GPH) for my 55G FOWLR tank.

1) Where is the ideal spot to put this guy? Right now I have it about 5 inches down from the surface on the side glass.

2) It's creating strong current on top. Is that bad?

3) What angle is ideal?

Hello and welcome to the site! You should have it positioned near the top so that it's creating a ripple on the surface of the water. Strong currents are good.
